| We’re gearing up for one of our favourite times of the year which starts this Saturday, June 15th. Independent Bookshop Week is the annual celebration of independent bookshops in the UK and Ireland. This year we’re thrilled to be collaborating with one of the world’s most prestigious independent publishers for IBW, Faber. Founded nearly 100 years ago, Faber have published scores of influential, groundbreaking and much-loved writers including thirteen Nobel Laureates and six Booker Prize winners.
We’ll be highlighting two of Faber’s most dynamic fiction series, Faber Editions and Faber Stories. Faber Editions puts the focus on rediscovered and lesser-known marvels that remain extremely relevant today. Authors featured include Diane Oliver, Emeric Pressburger, Sven Holm and Brigid Brophy.
Faber Stories showcases some of the finest exponents of the short story form in individual volumes. The landmark series features a host of brilliant writers including Barbara Kingsolver, Hanif Kureishi, Kazuo Ishiguro and Claire Keegan.
And, for added excitement, we have a stash of tote bags to give away with purchases of copies of the Faber series!
Also, as part of Indie Bookshop Week we are hosting an event with award winning Faber poet, Sam Riviere, on Tuesday June 18th. He’ll be in conversation with BBC Radio and BBC Sounds producer, Mair Bosworth, in what promises to be a fascinating evening. Sam’s latest poetry collection, Conflicted Copy, uses AI as a creative resource and the results are intriguing and extremely surprising.
There are a few tickets left for Sam’s event, available here: |
